About Lower Link Balls

Category: Tractor 3-Point Linkage Components

Brand: Jrs Farm Parts

Lower link balls — also called lower link ball ends or hitch balls — are the spherical bearing elements pressed into the implement-connection ends of the tractor’s lower link arms. They accept the implement’s mounting pins and provide the articulated joint that allows the three-point hitch to raise, lower, and float through its full range of motion. Because every implement attachment and detachment involves sliding the lower link arms over the implement pins, these balls are subject to constant sliding wear. Once a lower link ball’s bore wears beyond tolerance, implement connection becomes sloppy, pin retention is compromised, and the entire hitch system loses the rigidity needed for precise implement control.

Jrs Farm Parts manufactures lower link balls to exacting metallurgical standards at our ISO-certified facility in Ludhiana, India. These components are produced from case-hardening steel grades — including 16MnCr5 and equivalent specifications — and are heat-treated to achieve a surface hardness of 58 to 62 HRC. This hardness range places the wear surface well above the hardness of typical implement pins, ensuring that wear occurs preferentially on the cheaper and more easily replaced pin rather than on the ball itself. The case-hardening process creates a hard, wear-resistant outer shell while preserving a tougher, more ductile core that resists cracking under the impact and vibration loads inherent in field operation.

Our product range covers multiple bore diameters and outer ball diameters to fit the lower link arms found on tractors across the horsepower spectrum — from compact tractors through utility and row-crop machines to larger articulated four-wheel-drive units. Both standard and oversize outer diameters are available, the latter intended for lower link arms that have been re-bored to restore a worn ball seat. All balls are supplied with a phosphate or equivalent anti-corrosion surface treatment to prevent rust during storage and the initial service period before lubricant film establishes.

For American agricultural parts distributors and farm equipment dealers, Jrs Farm Parts lower link balls represent a best-of-both-worlds sourcing option: metallurgy and hardness specifications that match or exceed what end users expect from premium aftermarket brands, delivered at export pricing from our Ludhiana manufacturing base. ISO-certified production, batch-level hardness testing with documented results, and full-container shipping capability make Jrs Farm Parts a dependable supply partner for the US market.
