**Q1. What is an A-frame trailer coupler?**
An A-frame coupler sits on the V-shaped tongue (A-frame) of a trailer and latches over the tow vehicle’s trailer ball. It is the standard coupler style for most utility, boat, and agricultural trailers up to the rated capacity.
**Q2. Which ball sizes fit?**
A-frame couplers are available for 1-7/8″, 2″, and 2-5/16″ trailer balls. Match the coupler to the ball size stamped on your tow hitch — they are not interchangeable without changing the coupler.
**Q3. What weight classes are available?**
Couplers are produced in rated classes (commonly 3,500 lb, 5,000 lb, and 10,000 lb). The class is embossed on the coupler; never exceed the trailer’s GVWR or the coupler’s rating.
**Q4. How do I know if the coupler is the right size for my tongue?**
